How to Get an SDSUcard
About Your Red ID Number: SDSUcard is the name of the actual ID card itself and of the department that issues the card. “Red ID number” refers to the number on the SDSUcard that replaces the social security number.
SDSU Students
Applying for your SDSUcard couldn't be easier. In fact, it's easy as:
- Obtain a Red ID number when you apply to the university.
- Bring your Red ID number, $5 (or a receipt showing you pre-paid your SDSU card fee at Extended Studies / Cashiers), and one of the following to the SDSUcard office:
~ driver's license
~ state I.D. or military I.D.
~ Passport accepted.
- We'll take your photo, and in about 2 minutes your card will be ready.
NOTE: students who would like to avoid the photo lines may mail in a 3x3" headshot (similar to passport) color photo, $5 check or money order and application form -- then just pick up your card at the SDSUcard office. Please allow 2 weeks for processing, and don't forget to bring government-issued I.D. for pick-up (see details on form).
